Artist Statement
I’m interested in the ways that line work and carving can interact with one another on a surface and the ways that simple shapes can create complex looking designs. I tend to keep my color palette to a minimum to let the design speak for itself. Creating my concentric circle designs is almost a meditative practice and I enjoy watching the design evolve on it’s own as I draw it. I prefer to make my designs on utilitarian works like cups and bowls because I love the idea of art that you’re encouraged to touch and explore. Something that can be a part of a daily ritual such as drinking some coffee or tea.
